Isobella Jade's Story

My experience as a model is one that is based on taking a chance for yourself. During a boring summer in Syracuse, New York, in 2001, I Googled the word model. And since then I have seen a rare side of the modeling business from creating my own opportunities as a shorter than average model.

Hence the title of my book:  Almost 5'4".  I have been able to overcome the odds in a business where every inch counts.  But it hasn't happened from being born lucky.  Instead it has been through my own will and persistence and the results of just simply trying and chasing what you want to happen, and making it happen.

When I first wanted to write Almost 5'4" I didn't have a computer and I ended up writing it at the Apple Store on Prince Street in New York City. After self-promoting my story I proved that self-promotion can lead to great things.

In modeling, despite my height, I put to use what I do have, and by noticing what I DO have I have worked as a  print model and parts model with great brands (Marshalls, Easy Spirit, Victoria's Secret, Macy's, and many, many others), it all comes down to marketing yourself and your assets. You might have seen me featured in The New York Times, The New York Post, and The New York Post Page Six, The New York Daily News, The Los Angeles Times, The Sydney Morning Herald, Mac Life magazine, Mac World UK, Marie Claire UK, Mac Directory Magazine, GQ Italy, Bon magazine, LUNA magazine, Nylon magazine, Media Bistro, Publishers Weekly, Allure.com, Glamour.com and others.

Today, while I am modeling, I now put my unconventional experience to use and write daily modeling tips on my main modeling blog and share tips and advice and confessions of the model lifestyle for models of all sizes. You can also find my popular modeling podcast radio show called Model Talk (over 717,000 downloads) and my modeling tip videos on Youtube as well. I have written 3 books so far and I am currently writing a YA novel.

I've learned over the years that if you don't try, seek, chase, create, and give yourself a chance towards what you want to do, you just might miss it, so aim high!
